Bangladesh Jamaat Islami secretary general and death row convict Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed will file a petition seeking review of the verdict delivered by the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, upholding death for his crimes against humanity.
“We have handed the copy of the full verdict of the Appellate Division over to him and he gave us some directions regarding filing of the review plea,” Shishir said.
Advocate Shishir Mohammad Manir, counsel for the 1971 Al-Badr leader, said these to reporters after he and his four colleagues met their client at Dhaka Central Jail this morning.
The other four counsels are-Nazrul Islam, Moshiul Alam, Matiur Rahman Akand and Gazi MH Tamim. They talked to Mojaheed for about half an hour.
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 on July 17, 2013 sentenced Mojaheed to death.
The Jamaat leader filed an appeal with the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on August 12, 2013.
On June 16, 2015, the Appellate Division delivered its judgment, upholding death for the Jamaat secretary general.
The Apex Court on September 30 released the full verdict and on October 1, the ICT issued death warrant against the Jamaat leader.
