AKP has won the November 1 elections in Turkey. Voters have proved the survey companies and assumptions of party leaders. AKP has guaranteed the government with 49.66 % of the votes. Other parties have received the percentages as follows: CHP 25.08 %, MHP 11.77 %, HDP 10.95 %.
Out of 56 million 949 thousand and 900 voters with a right to vote in Turkey, 48 million 537 thousand 201 have voted. According to these results; AKP will have 317 seats, CHP 134 seats, MHP 40 seats and HDP 59 seats in the Parliament that consists of 550 seats.
As the results of June 7 elections ended with no party having the required majority to establish a government and as no coalition was formed; a decision was given to renew the elections on November 1. When we compare the June 7 and November 1 elections, we can see that AKP is the winner.
COMPARISON OF JUNE 7- NOVEMBER 1
On June 7 elections, AKP had 258 deputies with 40.87 % votes and could not reach to 276, which is the number of seats required for a single party government. But, AKP has changed its strategy within a very short period of 5 months and became successful in this; increasing its votes with 9 % to 49.66 %. CHP has received 24.95 % of the votes on June 7 elections with 132 deputies. In November 1 elections, this rate became 25.02 % with 134 deputies; but it is considered as unsuccessful and received criticism from its supporters. MHP has received 16.29 % on June 7; but this has dropped to 11.77 % on November 1; and its number of deputies has decreased to 80 from 40. HDP has lost the entrusted votes it received on June 7 and dropped to 10.95 % from 13.12 %. One of the main reasons of this is considered as its strong relations with the terrorist organization PKK. 1 % of the voters who have voted for Saadet Party on June 7 have supported AKP this time. Saadet Partisi received 2.06 % of the votes on June 7, but this time it received only 0.7 %.
DAVUTOGLU: TURKEY WILL BECOME STRONGER
AKP Chairman and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has made a speech after the election victory and said: “Our people have clearly revealed that they wanted solution, stability and trust. Turkey has spoken, our people have spoken and the world listened. No steps will go back from democracy, law, justice, mercy and love. Law is under assurance for everyone and the legal rights of our 78 million citizens will be protected. From today on, concerns were overrun by hope. Turkey will become better, more powerful, more merciful and more ruling. The language of violence and hatred will disappear and Turkey will continue to liberalize, grow, develop and improve with democracy.”
