Demonstrators establish sit-in at ministry’s headquarters demanding resignation of environment minister
Scores of protesters from the popular “You Stink” movement stormed the Lebanese Ministry of Environment building in central Beirut on Tuesday.
Demonstrators established a sit-in and demanded the resignation of Environment Minister Mohammad Machnouk in an apparent escalation to protests that started on Aug. 22.
Hundreds of demonstrators had staged an open-ended sit-in near government headquarters to protest perceived government corruption and a sanitation crisis that has been ongoing for more than two months.
